Teatro Villa dei Leoni
Il Teatro Villa dei Leoni di Mira fa parte del complesso di Villa Contarini dei Leoni, costruita nel XVI secolo, entrambi di proprietà comunale.
Situato lungo la Riviera del Brenta, a meno di 20 km da Venezia e a 30 km da Padova, nel Teatro si svolgono ogni anno rassegne teatrali ed eventi e può ospitare fino 300 spettatori.
La Barchessa di Villa dei Leoni, dal 1988 diventa il Teatro di Mira.
La sua originaria funzione era quella annessa alla Villa, cioè di deposito di merci e attrezzature per i lavori agricoli, ma a partire dal XX secolo ha avuto diverse funzioni, pur mantenendo la qualità di spazio di pubblico utilizzo, infatti fu adibita a palestra, sala prove della banda comunale e laboratorio del pittore Vittorio Basaglia autore delle opere che si trovano nella Villa.
Nel 1984 il Comune di Mira delibera la destinazione della Barchessa a Teatro e viene approvato il progetto di ristrutturazione che ha cercato di far convivere due tematiche e intenzioni: la conservazione del manufatto storico attraverso il recupero e la valorizzazione degli elementi formali e tipologici originari ancora rintracciabili nell’edificio e la realizzazione di una struttura teatrale moderna e corrispondente ai requisiti tecnici e funzionali che essa richiede.
The Villa dei Leoni Theater in Mira is part of the Villa Contarini dei Leoni complex, built in the 16th century, both owned by the municipality.
Located along the Riviera del Brenta, less than 20 km from Venice and 30 km from Padua, the theater hosts theatrical reviews and events every year and can accommodate up to 300 spectators.
The Barchessa of Villa dei Leoni, since 1988 becomes the Theater of Mira.
Its original function was that annexed to the Villa, that is of storage of goods and equipment for agricultural work, but starting from the twentieth century it has had different functions, while maintaining the quality of space for public use, in fact it was used as a gym, tests by the municipal band and workshop of the painter Vittorio Basaglia, author of the works found in the Villa.
In 1984 the Municipality of Mira approved the destination of the Barchessa as a Theater and the renovation project was approved which sought to bring together two themes and intentions: the conservation of the historical artefact through the recovery and enhancement of the original formal and typological elements that can still be traced in the building and the construction of a modern theater structure corresponding to the technical and functional requirements it requires.
