Villa Allegri, collocata sulla riva sinistra del Naviglio Brenta, è una composta costruzione probabilmente riedificata da Antonio Pasquali agli inizi del XVIII secolo; sembra però che, l’antico edificio appartenuto alla famiglia Donati, esistesse già dal XV secolo.

L’edificio, caratterizzato da una bifora centinata nel piano nobile e dal timpano triangolare contornato da tre statue, è complessivamente molto sobrio. È stato restaurato durante la seconda metà del XX secolo.

La tradizione racconta come questo luogo fosse spesso utilizzato per feste e ricevimenti dai nobili veneziani; inoltre, qui vi soggiornarono molti personaggi importanti fra cui Giacomo Casanova, il maresciallo francese Marmont e il generale Josef Radetzky durante l’assedio di Venezia nel 1848: nobile boemo, fu governatore del regno Lombardo-Veneto. Durante il XIX secolo fu abitata dall’ingegnere Carl Ritter Von Ghega, colui che progettò la ferrovia del Semmering in Austria. La villa per un lungo periodo divenne anche una casa da gioco dove i ricchi amavano trascorrere momenti di piacere e divertimento.

Attualmente è un’abitazione privata, utilizzata per eventi e in parte adibita a Bed&Breakfast.

Villa Allegri, located on the left bank of the Naviglio Brenta, is a complex construction probably rebuilt by Antonio Pasquali in the early 18th century; however, it seems that the ancient building that belonged to the Donati family already existed since the 15th century.

The building, characterized by an arched mullioned window on the main floor and a triangular tympanum surrounded by three statues, is overall very sober. It was restored during the second half of the 20th century.

Tradition tells how this place was often used for parties and receptions by Venetian nobles; moreover, many important personalities stayed here including Giacomo Casanova, the French marshal Marmont and general Josef Radetzky during the siege of Venice in 1848: a Bohemian noble, he was governor of the Lombard-Venetian kingdom. During the nineteenth century it was inhabited by the engineer Carl Ritter Von Ghega, who designed the Semmering railway in Austria. For a long time the villa also became a gambling house where the rich loved to spend moments of pleasure and fun.

It is currently a private home, used for events and partly used as a Bed & Breakfast.
